Language of the course:

Estonian language

Course volume:

30 academic hours, of which 30 academic hours are independent learning (including e-learning).

Short overview and structure of the online course

The theory of the Sports Massage online should ensure that the online course participant acquires sufficient basic knowledge to understand the specificities of different sports in the context of sports massage. For example, which skeletal muscles could be most affected in the shot put, which massage techniques could be preferred in these cases, what to avoid, etc. It is not quite like that a sports massage online course teaches a certain number of massage techniques, after which you are told that you are now ready to massage any athlete. On the contrary, a Sports Massage online course will give you knowledge of the differences between different sports and what approaches can or should be used. In addition to the previous, the online course explains the general principles of the training system, for example, how training is periodised, how the training session is divided up, etc.

The structure of the Sports Massage online course can be found here.

Prerequisites for enrolling in an online course

There are no prerequisites to participate in the Sports Massage online course. However, it is highly recommended that you have previously completed at least a Classical Massage (online) course or a similar Western massage (online) course (e.g. Cupping Massage or Situational Massage) (online) course. Prior knowledge of massage facilitates the acquisition of new knowledge.

Completion of the online course

In order to participate in the Sports Massage online course, you need to register an account on the website, which will later be linked to the Sports Massage online course. More information will be provided after registration for the online course.

Sports Massage online course is based on recorded video lectures. If you have any questions during the course, you can email them to the course organiser. If the questions do not require a long answer, they will be answered by email. In the case of a longer answer, we prefer three options: 1) by telephone; 2) via Zoom; 3) creating an additional video clip to the online course. In the case of the first two options an exact date and time mutually convenient to both sides shall be agreed. If possible, we prefer to create an additional video clip to accompany the online course when answering questions.

Documents delivered after the online course

Upon completion of the Sports Massage online course, a certificate or a notice will be issued. A certificate will be issued on completion of all learning objectives. In order to achieve the learning outcomes, various written assignments have to be completed, and multiple-choice tests have to be passed. The online course organiser will provide written feedback on the written assignments. Written assignments will be reviewed and fed back within 24 to 72 (usually 24) hours; progress to the next module is then allowed.
