Massage and Testing

Online course

Language of the course:

Estonian language

Course volume:

30 academic hours, of which independent learning (including online learning) is 30 academic hours.

Short overview and structure of the online course

The massage and testing online course is beneficial for the practicing masseur. You can perform a more structured and targeted massage once you know how to identify tense skeletal muscles through testing. For example, if you can, through testing, determine that the client has tight hamstring muscles, you can focus the massage on relaxing these muscles. The same principle can be applied to the biceps brachi, gastrocnemius, latissimus dorsi muscle, etc. The online course will also review joint testing, as the data collected through joint testing will allow for a more systematic approach to a massage session.

The structure of the massage and testing online course can be found here.

Prerequisites for enrolling in an online course

There are two prerequisites for participation in the online course on massage and testing. Firstly, you must have previously completed a Functional Anatomy online course or a similar course. The underlying reason is that the abovementioned (online) course provides knowledge of the skeletal muscle system and of the basic movements of the human body, which are essential for a more systematic understanding of the human body movements used in testing. Secondly, at least one (online) course on massage must have been completed previously – one of the best choices would be Classical Massage, as this (online) course provides the basics of massage. Knowledge and skills in at least one type of massage will help to better understand the data collected from testing in the context of massage.

If you plan to participate in the massage and testing online course, please send copies of your certificates to koolitused@multifarius.ee after enrolling. You do not need to send copies of the certificates if you have completed these courses or online courses with us. In addition to previous studies, we also take work experience into account; for more information, please contact us.

Completion of the online course

In order to participate in the massage and testing online course, you need to register an account on the website, which will later be linked to the massage and testing online course. More information will be provided after registration for the online course.

The massage and testing online course is based on recorded video lectures. If you have any questions during the course, you can email them to the course organiser. If the questions do not require a long answer, they will be answered by email. In the case of a longer answer, we prefer three options: 1) by telephone; 2) via Zoom; 3) creating an additional video clip to the online course. In the case of the first two options an exact date and time mutually convenient to both sides shall be agreed. If possible, we prefer to create an additional video clip to accompany the online course when answering questions.

Documents delivered after the online course

Upon completion of the massage and testing online course, a certificate or a notice will be issued. A certificate will be issued on completion of all learning objectives. In order to achieve the learning outcomes, various written assignments have to be completed, and multiple-choice tests have to be passed. The online course organiser will provide written feedback on the written assignments. Written assignments will be reviewed and fed back within 24 to 72 (usually 24) hours; progress to the next module is then allowed.
