If knowledge is acquired superficially in this phase, there will be no substantive knowledge acquisition in the following modules. Therefore, it is crucial that the first module is well-learned.

In the first module, you will acquire knowledge of the basic movements of the human body, the basic parts of the body, and the skeletal system. To understand how the skeletal muscle system works, it is important to know, first of all, the basic movements of the human body since different movements - such as adduction - are performed by the skeletal muscles. It is also important to know the basic parts of the body because these can be used to define skeletal muscle movements, such as thigh adduction, correctly. In addition, knowing the skeletal system is necessary, as knowing the bones and joints helps better understand which bone originates a skeletal muscle, which joint it crosses, and which bone it is insertioned. From the origins and insertions of the skeletal muscle, it is also possible to derive the functions of the skeletal muscles and to determine the precise movements of the human body from the basic movements and the basic parts of the body. Consequently, all the topics of the first module are closely related. Therefore, in the first module, it is important to acquire the knowledge thoroughly; only then it is reasonable to move on to the second module.

Module II: skeletal muscle system: upper extremity skeletal muscles

In the second module, the functions of the skeletal muscles of the upper extremities, their origins and insertions, and other details are reviewed. Description of the Learning Environment and Completion of the Online Course

The online course takes place in a web-based learning environment integrated into the website, which is accessible to participants 24/7. The course is based on a video format, where the content is delivered more in audio form: the course instructor explains the topic with a slide presentation in the background, and the course instructor’s image is not shown on the screen. At the same time, in up to about half of the submodules, there are also video lectures where the course instructor is shown on video.

To complete the online course, you need to create a user account on the website, have a fast internet connection, and a device that allows you to watch videos and submit independent assignments. It is recommended to use a computer, but the online course can generally also be completed with a smart device (e.g., a smartphone).

8. Conditions for Issuing Graduation Documents

In the Functional Anatomy Online Course, the achievement of learning outcomes is assessed. To achieve the learning outcomes, participants must complete multiple-choice tests and various written assignments, such as answering short questions. In addition, a final test and a written assessment must be completed. Upon achievement of the learning outcomes, a certificate will be issued. If not all learning outcomes are achieved, a notice will be issued. To receive a notice, at least 70% of the online course must be completed. Learning outcomes are assessed at the end of each module and in certain submodules. Written assignments receive written feedback, which may take 1–3 working days. Only after the independent work has been reviewed and feedback provided can the participant proceed to the next (sub)module.

The certificate or notice is issued electronically; if you wish to receive it on paper and by post, printing and delivery within Estonia costs €15, while shipping abroad is arranged by agreement, and the paper version will be sent within 1–3 months. The fee is set to cover the cost of special paper, printing, the envelope and postage, as well as the time the process takes; we aim to focus primarily on organizing courses rather than spending excessive time on formalities. Issuing a certificate or notice electronically takes about 10 minutes, whereas producing a paper version takes considerably more time, although we understand that some learners prefer a paper copy and therefore offer this option for a reasonable fee.

9. Description of the Course Instructor’s Qualification, Learning or Work Experience Required for Conducting the Course or Studies

The course instructor must have completed studies (courses) in anatomy and physiology, preferably at a higher education institution. The course instructor must also have completed extensive massage studies and successfully passed the massage practitioner’s professional exam, as the current functional anatomy online course is primarily designed for massage practitioners. Massage studies cover skeletal muscles both on a theoretical level, by addressing various topics, and on a practical level, through massage practice. This provides the course instructor with a solid foundation for giving a systematic overview of the skeletal system and skeletal muscles. In addition, the course instructor must have at least 5 years of experience in teaching adults and organizing e-learning, as well as previous experience in teaching functional anatomy courses.

10.
